Bellows are thin-walled components, with a single layer wall thickness typically not exceeding 0.25mm and the thinnest being only 0.10mm, making them the weakest link in the entire valve. Although the bellows seal has good sealing performance, a series of factors, such as the non-uniformity of the wall thickness of the bellows in the forming process, corrosion spots, and small welding defect in the valve manufacturing process, may cause the bellows to break during operation.

 

Therefore, in high-risk applications, a double sealing structure of bellows and packing is often used, which uses bellows as the first seal and packing as the second seal to further improve the reliability of valve sealing. At present, this structure has been widely used in nuclear industry, chemical industry and other sectors.
