The OPC solenoid valves AM-501-1-0149 are two in number, and they are controlled by the OPC (Oil Pressure Control) section of the Distributed Control System (DCS). They are arranged in parallel. During normal operation, these two solenoid valves are normally closed, blocking the discharge channel of the OPC oil in the OPC manifold and establishing the OPC oil pressure. When the turbine speed reaches 103% of the rated speed, the OPC action signal is outputted, and the two OPC solenoid valves are energized (powered) and opened. This results in the discharge of the OPC oil pressure in the OPC manifold, causing the governing valves to quickly close.
After the governing valves are closed, in order to restore normal operation and establish OPC oil pressure, the following steps can be taken:
1. Ensure that the turbine speed is below 103% of the rated speed.
2. Disable the OPC solenoid valves by de-energizing them to close the discharge channel of the OPC oil.
3. Gradually increase the steam flow to the turbine, allowing the turbine speed to decrease.
4. Once the turbine speed is below the set threshold, re-energize (power) the OPC solenoid valves to open the discharge channel.
5. The OPC oil pressure will start to build up again, allowing for the gradual opening of the governing valves.
6. Monitor the system closely to ensure that the OPC oil pressure reaches the desired level for normal operation.
7. Once the OPC oil pressure is restored, the turbine can resume its normal operation.
