The SV13-12V-C-0-00 plug-in AST solenoid valve is mainly responsible for overspeed protection. OPC is mainly interested in overspeed signals and is controlled by DEH. If the unit experiences load shedding or overspeed, DEH will send a 3-second pulse signal to the solenoid valve. The solenoid valve opens, the OPC oil circuit leaks, and the control valve will quickly close.

After the turbine speed returns to normal, the power supply to the solenoid valve will be cut off, the solenoid valve will be closed, and the OPC oil pressure will be reestablished. At this time, the DEH will adjust the air valve to match the opening of the unit. Two OPC solenoid valves in the system are double-layer safeguards to prevent one from failing and not acting, leaving a hidden danger for the unit's overspeed.
